Visions of Peace Garden at Camp Casey 3

Thanks to many members of CODEPINK who responded to our alert and supported the transformation of dirt into Paradise, or as Cindy said, Kansas into Oz.  In less than 24 hours members of the Camp Casey 3 community and the gals from CODEPINK created the Visions of Peace garden.  At the entrance to Camp Casey 3 you are greeted with an explosion of pinkness, it catches your breath and inspires you.  At the front of the garden on a bed of volcanic rock are the piles of children’s shoes to signify all the innocent lives lost in Iraq, Lebanon and Israel.  Across the road are the over 2,600 crosses for the lives of the soldiers lost.  Last year everyone sent roses, now the roses are here to stay, you can continue to send shoes and or money for flowers as there is another 40 feet the garden can grow.

You can still join us in the creation of this memorial and garden by sending a pair or two of children’s shoes or make a donation to plant some flowers. Thank you!
This is what we started with...
A whole lot of dry dirt and a whole lot of will to make something beautiful.
Here's Cindy- as always right where the action is!
  Jodie and DeDe
  Another dedicated gardener.

Labor of love-105 degree heat.
Jodie Evans dedicating the garden to all  women and children that suffer from war.
She flew all the way from California to build this memorial garden in Crawford.
  The CODEPINK gals
The whole group smiling with satisfaction at a hard days work.
And it was worth every minute...
