This October you can pledge to take action weekly to prevent an attack on Iran.  We’ve created four exiting and meaningful actions to help you connect to your heart, educate yourself and your community, pressure Congress, and make your opposition to war with Iran visible locally.  After you sign the pledge on this page, you’ll receive an email with your personalized webpage sign-up form.  Forward this link to your friends and invite them to sign on.  The person who gets the most pledges at the end of the month wins a free trip to DC to  be in action with CODEPINK! 

Here’s how you can help Stop the Next War Now: 

Start with our first action this week. After you sign the pledge, you’ll receive info about weekly actions by email.  We hope that by making a commitment to action this month, you will be able to connect with your heart, mind, Congressperson, and community around stopping the next war now! 

Simple Action #1: “Connect with your heart”

Print out and wear this CODEPINK necklace and keep the hope of peace with Iran close to your heart. These necklaces are great conversation starters and help raise awareness in a way that can engage everyone. Pick one day a week to wear the necklace and make a few for your friends to wear too! Now that’s connecting with your heart.

Simple Action #2: "Connect with your mind"

Educate yourself about the history of US-Iran relations and the current issues at hand. Please read these articles:

Share these articles widely with your friends. When we work to prevent war, we want to do it with as much knowledge and intelligence as possible. If only President Bush felt the same way about going into war!

Simple Action #3: "Connect with your Congressperson"

Tell your Congressperson that you don¹t want an attack on, or sanctions of, Iran! Transform the knowledge you have learned into action by calling your Representative at (202) 225-3121 to voice your opposition to an attack on Iran. Rep. DeFazio (OR-4) has written a letter to his colleagues in Congress asking them to sign a letter to the Chairs of the House Armed Services, Foreign Affairs and Intelligence committees. The letter asks those Chairs to hold hearings on Iran, and includes a list of suggested questions for witnesses. The letter also asks that witnesses testify under oath. Ask your member of Congress to sign this letter. We need our Congress to ask the tough questions that are currently not being asked in order to keep Bush and his cronies in check.

The message to your Congressperson is clear: "We don't want to be misled into another catastrophic war. Demand hearings on Iran with witnesses who will testify under oath by signing onto DeFazio's letter. Only we can prevent the next war now!"

Simple Action #4: “Connect with your community”

Hold a public vigil for peace. Pass a city for peace with Iran resolution in your city council.

It's time for us to step it up and let Congress feel the pressure as we say NO to war—both the war we've started and the war we want to stop in its tracks.
